We seem to live in an era where savages are called “militants,” where war crimes are dressed up as “resistance,” and where a group that parades rape, murder, and child abduction as doctrine is granted press conferences and humanitarian appeals.

The most significant diplomatic fraud of the modern era is that these crimes go unpunished—and the so-called international human rights system has actively helped enable them. For most of us, these are faraway issues, and most Americans could care less about groups such as Hamas, no matter how much the public relations bogeymen are used to program society.

But this Hamas bit is a good example of things that we should pay attention to as Americans because that international human rights system is a clear and present danger to American sovereignty and constitutional order. We elect people to represent us in Washington, DC. Granted, they have done a dismal job of controlling the international order since the 1950s.

Republicans talk a good game on this issue by rhetorically railing against encroachments to American sovereignty from the UN and rules-based order. Still, they, too—on the altars of compromise and bipartisanship, excuses made for lack of moral and political courage—have gone along to get along and helped build this beast.

Some tried to push back, and some lost their Congressional seats, too—not over this alone, but because they were free thinkers writ large and worked to accomplish an America First approach before it was popular to do so.

The bottom line is that Presidents have supported many bills that many Congresses debated that created and funded the UN and other international bodies that rogue regimes have used to hurt America, Americans, and American interests. It will take a long time to turn this around—or who knows, perhaps the winds of change will reach Turtle Bay, too.

I could pick many examples to show this to you, but let's focus on this group we hear a lot about these days in the media: Hamas. Let us deal in truth—at least those we must assume as truth—by using just the words and actions of the leadership of Hamas, or more accurately, short-hand for Ḥarakah al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah, meaning Islamic Resistance Movement. Notice that word, “resistance,” in the name?
